Travel Note
If you’re flying, O'Hare Airport (ORD) is the closest airport to the festivities, but Midway (MDW) is still reasonably close and offers lots of Southwest flights in and out each day. So far the cheapest tickets we've seen are Southwest and Spirit Airlines, with United and American not too far behind. If you’re traveling by train, Amtrak also offers affordable fares to the city from across the United States. Once you’ve arrived, a combination of rideshare (Uber, Lyft) and public transit will likely be the easiest way to get around. If desired, the Chicago train system can take you to Sunday’s wedding and brunch, and Uber will help you get to the dinners in the suburbs if you’re available to attend. Renting a car will give you the greatest flexibility, but parking downtown can be an adventure.
Travel Note
Chicago is a big city with lots to explore. We found great deals on travel apps like Expedia, and if you’re looking far enough in advance, AirBnb has great places to choose from as well.
