There are a ton of great local hikes, here are a few recommendations: Equinox Pond (Manchester) - a wonderful hike for all levels. Enjoy an hour long, flat hike around the pond, or spend three hours and climb to the summit for extraordinary views. The Long Trail (Manchester) - the oldest long distance hiking trail in the U.S.A. It inspired the Appalachian Trail, which continues for 100 miles through southern Vermont. Lye Brook Falls (Manchester) - Enjoy a two-hour hike to Lye Brook Falls through the Green Mountain National Forest in Manchester. The trail follows a former logging railroad up a gradual slope paralleling Lye Brook. The cascading 125-foot Lye Brook Falls is a great reward! Mt. Aeolus (Dorset) - A 90-minute hike up Mt. Aeolus ends at a dramatic cave where alas, there are no longer bats. Owned by the Nature Conservancy, this cave used to be the largest bat hibernaculum in the northeastern U.S.A.
There are tons of other activities in the area (golf, tennis, yoga, horseback riding, hiking etc.), feel free to reach out to Shaun or Ali if you have any questions!
One of the best independent bookstores in the country! They also offer a full line of stationery, magazines, cards, calendars, local and VT foods and many fine gifts from clothing to jewelry. In addition, the popular Bonnet & Main Cafe is attached to the store so there is no need to leave the building for coffee or baked goods or lunch.
