CJ and Alisha met through their mutual friend, Hunter. CJ had just finished his freshman year at Utica College and was back home visiting Hunter at OCC. Hunter asked Alisha to spend the day with them since she was free. The three of them had lunch together and went out shopping and just hung out the whole day. At the end of the day Hunter mentioned to Alisha that the two of them got along famously and gave CJ her number. They courted for a few weeks before finally making it official at the Memorial Day Watch Fire in Syracuse, New York at the New York State Fair grounds.
