Depending on who you ask, you get two different stories. The great part is that both are true! If you ask Alexis, she'll tell you about how they both worked backstage during Little Mermaid Jr. There was a no dating rule in place during the production, so Chris waited until the cast party to ask her for her number. If you ask Chris, he'll tell you about how Alexis walked up to him, asking, "Hey, you look familiar. Did you go to Clayton Valley High School?" Chris responded with a chipper, "Nope, that school sucks" and walked away. Both stories are true believe it or not!
A month after Chris and Alexis moved into their own apartment, Chris planned a snow day on Mt. Rose with Alexis and their old roommates: David, Philip, and Tommy. They all agreed on the date of March 27th as the roommates weren't working, and Alexis was on spring break. The day of, Alexis said that she probably won't go because she had so much work to do. After some convincing by Chris, she agreed to go if they did not stay out all day. After a short drive, they made it to a turnoff. As they stepped out of the car, they looked out at the valley of snow with pine trees sprouted throughout. The air was cool and calm, and the breeze wafted with the smell of pine. They took turns going down the hill. The snow was compacted after days of other people sledding and popped all the makeshift sleds. Eventually, they were all at the bottom of the hill, and Chris wanted to go on an adventure into the trees. As they adventured into the forest, Chris found a small clearing with a view of a snow-capped peak in the back. Chris told Alexis that this was the first place they went together in Reno, and he wanted to take a picture with Alexis there. He gave his phone to Tommy and told him to record a video. As Chris returned to Alexis, he told her “You wanna know a fun fact? Today was the 6-year anniversary of when we first met at Poison Apple, and it was the third happiest day of my life.” At this point, Chris went on one knee and started rummaging through his snow jacket pocket as Alexis screamed “Oh my God! What are you doing?!” “Will you make today” Chris continued, “the second happiest day of my life?” Alexis stood there speechless with her hand over her mouth. Chris looked into her eyes and said, “Alexis, you are the most amazing person I have ever met. Will you marry me?” Alexis went back and forth between Chris’s eyes and the ring, but eventually said, “yeah”.
