How We Met

10.20.2014

First and foremost, go NOLES. Our story goes back to 2013, an era of good football, Frozen and ALS Ice Bucket Challenge. It also happens to be the year Austin and I met. Personally, until this day, I swear we met Austin’s freshman year when I was visiting my sister. However, he refuses to admit that’s true. When I first moved to Tallahassee in 2013, I was already blessed with a group of friends that I had met through my sister and from high school. Austin was a part of this amazing group. Throughout my first year living there, Austin and I found ourselves together constantly through these mutual friends. And sometime during the summer of 2014, something just clicked. Austin was in West Palm Beach at a men's league ice hockey tournament when we exchanged some flirtatious comments back and forth which lead to him asking me out on our first date! We went to Wendy’s which was hands down was my go-to spot in college because, well, it’s cheap, and we were broke college students. A few weeks went by and we were both still unsure of what “this” was. We finally decided we couldn’t keep our new-found relationship a secret anymore! Well, to be fair, my sister and roommate caught us red handed when Austin was dropping me off one morning. Then, on October 20, 2014, while we were watching New Girl on my couch, he looked me in the eyes and asked me out! Now here we are 6 years later, getting hitched and living out our happily ever after!!

The Proposal

9.28.2019

I had given the proposal a lot of thought and had no idea how I was going to ask, but then the stars finally began to align. She was going to Disney World with her mom and sister and she asked my parents and I to join. The three of us, of course, agreed knowing I had a plan. She thought the plan was to spend the day at the World Showcase at Epcot enjoying Food and Wine Festival (which was sort of right). We started to make our way around the park, and I started to get increasingly more nervous. It seemed like forever as we were making around the park before we got to Italy (which was where we watched the fireworks our first time at Disney together a few years prior). When we finally got there, we stopped to take a picture. This is when I whispered into her ear (she hates that I do when we take nice pictures). Before she knew what was happening, I was down on one knee, and clearly, she said Yes!!
