We were both working Weathervane Repertory Theatre's 2013 summer season. There was a big party after the first week of rehearsals. We first caught eyes out at the campfire and spent the rest of the night together. In fact, we ended up being the last two left at the party. After a funny miscommunication, where we determined neither of us were looking for a one night stand, we both decided to see where our little fling took us...and have been together since.
If you know us, you know Alexandra is an early riser and Chris is not. On the morning of September 3, 2016, Chris woke up first, in a rare moment of early inspiration. He ushered us from coffee at our favorite neighborhood spot, to a walk through Astoria Park. It was one of those perfect, New York mornings. We finally came to Alexandra's favorite part of the park, and we sat there for a while. Alexandra almost blew it, when wondering why Chris' pockets seemed so full, she tried to feel what he had stuffed them with. After a while, Chris got down on one knee, and together we happily decided to marry each other! As if that wasn't enough happiness, our friends, Gerardo and Tara, jumped out of hiding! They had sneakily captured the whole thing on camera!
1. He sings out loud in the car, and I'm talking LOUD. 2. The way he connected and built a relationship with my grandma when I was away on tour. They cooked together; went shopping together. She adored him. In general, the way he so effortlessly fits into my whole family. 3. He gets so excited for Game of Thrones. I'm talking "kid in a candy store" excited. Its adorable! 4. He always wants to drive. I never do. 5. Within the first few months of Chris moving to New York, he memorized the whole NYC subway system saying that he never wanted to get lost.... talk about drive! 6. No matter how near or far we are from each other, the relationship Chris and I have together is always effortless. Being together just makes sense. 7. We are equally skilled at binge-watching shows... AND we usually agree on the show! 8. We bring out the goofy in each other. Whether its singing with grapes in our mouths, snapchat videos, or just being weird, we are always laughing together. 9. When Chris is stressed, I am calm (i.e. traveling). When I am stressed, Chris is calm (i.e. making plans). We balance each other out. Thank. Goodness. 10. Chris' kindness and sincerity are magnetic. He is one of the most genuine people I have ever met. He brings out the best in me and in the people around him.
1. Our favorite childhood stuffed animal is the same - a pink floppy elephant. What are the odds?! 2. The constant care and compassion Alexandra shows for other people is unlike anyone I've ever met. Alexandra finds the good in people, even when it seems like there is none to be found. 3. She's a quadruple threat ... Singer, actor, dancer, and she smells nice! 4. She is selflessly thoughtful. I see it in her everyday. 5. Alexandra usually manages to laugh at my "Dad" jokes. 6. No matter where we are, I always feel at home with her. 7. Alexandra loves animals as much as I do. So much so, that I put up with her incessant pleading for a puppy, even though we both know we are not ready. 8. If you haven't seen the Blink-182 music video Alexandra made with her friends in high school, you don't know what true love is.... She is almost as big a nerd as I am. 9. We finish each other's sentences with song lyrics, ALL THE TIME. 10. Our values align better then anyone I have ever met. Both actual family and chosen family are equally as important to Alexandra as they are to me. Together we have built a life and surrounded ourselves with amazing people.
