COVID is a growing concern again. You should have received an email from Shannon with some information. Here we have tried to summarize and digest the information for you. What do I need to do before Mexico?

Answer

Stay safe! Isolate as much as possible, wear a mask, and get boosted!! A booster brings efficacy of the vaccine against Omicron up from 35% to 75%! You may also consider testing in early January so that if you are positive, you will know prior to going to Mexico. Current quarantine period after a positive test is 5 days if asymptomatic with strict masking for an additional 5 days. So, we recommend testing 9-10 and 5-7 days prior to your departure.

What do I need to do to get to Mexico?

Answer

Your airline will require you to complete a health questionnaire. Travelers may be subject to health screening, including temperature checks, upon arrival in Mexico.

What do I need to return to the US?

Answer

1. Your airline will require you to submit an attestation form that confirms you are negative for COVID-19 or have recently recovered from COVID-19. 2. Bring proof of your negative qualifying COVID-19 test results OR proof of your recent recovery from COVID-19. 3. Give your contact info and where you can be reached (name, address, primary and secondary phone number, and email address).

What do I need for proof of negative test?

Answer

A physical or electronic copy of a qualifying negative COVID-19 viral test taken within 1 day before your flight’s departure to the U.S. Your negative test result must include: - Your government issued name or passport number - Specimen collection date - The lab or physician’s name Testing is provided at the resort. Some at-home tests are allowed- please visit https://www.southwest.com/coronavirus/mexico/ for that list.

What does proof of recently recovered mean?

Answer

Proof that you recovered from COVID-19 within the last 90 days including both: a) Signed letter on letterhead from a licensed healthcare provider or public health official that you have recovered from COVID-19 and are ‘cleared for travel’ and includes the provider’s name, address, and phone number. b) Physical or electronic copy of a positive COVID-19 viral test result taken within 90 days before your flight to the U.S. Your positive test result must include your government issued name or passport number, specimen collection date (within 90 calendar days), and the lab or physician’s name.

Okay great... so if I test positive in Mexico, what does that actutally mean?

Answer

You will stay at the resort at 50% rate for up to 14 days. Currently the quarantine policy is 10-14 days or until a negative test (whichever comes first). However, the CDC changed quarantine guidelines on 12/27 to be just 5 days and asymptomatic, so it is VERY likely that the need to quarantine in Mexico will change to 5 days and/or negative test. There is a lab and doctor on resort property that could provide the needed testing and note for proof of recovery.

Am I going to get stuck in Mexcio?

Answer

No! Or we hope not! Every event is OUTSIDE. Rivera Maya is currently in a the GREEN zone for transmission and in the last 3 months, this resort has had 2 people need to quarantine. SO LETS PARTY ON!!
