What do you expect on the first day of your first real job? Probably not meeting the person you’ll spend the rest of your life with! After a nervous, first-day-of-orientation handshake, Helen and Alex sat at the same table and struck up a close friendship over the following year. After months of inside jokes, shared musical playlists, daily life check ins, and an accidental “meet the parents”, we saw what was right in front of us — that maybe, juuust quite possibly, this was something more.

Alex’s story: Knowing Helen is the most selfless person and wanted a private special moment, I planned a surprise, low key sunset proposal at the Lincoln Memorial. Helen’s story: Oh, I totally knew it was coming and when, but considering Alex can’t keep a secret I was impressed that I didn’t know where or how he would propose! What actually happened: Little did they know the only January day that was 60 degrees and perfectly sunny out would lead to a proposal in front of 200+ strangers, putting their love story center-stage at the monuments. Swept off her feet on the steps of the Lincoln Memorial and surrounded by applause from the crowd, both Helen and Alex couldn’t stop laughing and beaming with joy at the reality of forever with their best friend!
