Forever & Always

After moving to Chicago in 2020, I was fortunate enough to get hired by a security group in 2021. Alex had been working in maintenance at the same building I was assigned to. This is how we met. We both didn't know each other at all, but that didn't stop us from noticing each other every time we saw each other. One fateful day I took a late lunch, which also happened to be the time Alex took his lunch, and that's where it all began. Originally, we exchanged numbers because he wanted to help with some issues I had with my car at the time, but he soon asked if I would mind if we could text or if we should "keep it professional". (I said we could totally text anytime). Each day I looked forward to seeing him at work. We both had the same mindset of focusing on ourselves, as we both had just gotten out of seriously damaging and toxic relationships, but we were able to slowly break down the protective walls we had both put up. I would take late lunches just to talk to him and cheer him up if he was having a bad day. He would stop by my apartment just to say goodnight. Our relationship grew little by little, that now two years later we are fortunate enough to be able to be best friends as well as husband and wife.
