To travel from Chandigarh Airport to Taj Hotel -If you want to prearrange a taxi (for pickup to/from airport or other various plans), you can arrange on WhatsApp with ‘Diksha’ at +91 97816 66621. We have confirmed that they have a very reasonable rate. -You can also book a prepaid taxi from the airport. Find the taxi kiosk near the terminal exit. There are multiple options, both inside and outside. It will be cheap (~$10).

Getting around Chandigarh

There is an option to also be able to pay by cash. -Taxi: There are no roadside taxis in Chandigarh. You can find a rickshaw or Uber as needed on the spot. Hotels should be able to assist in arranging a prepaid taxi, or you can reach out to the Whatsapp contact noted above. -For scheduled wedding events & tours, busses will be provided from Taj Hotel to & from venue.

Delhi Airport

The Delhi Airport is your closest international airport to Chandigarh. We are providing information in the likelihood you will arrive or travel through Delhi. Delhi Airport Hotel - Holiday Inn Express : There is a hotel directly in the Delhi Airport. This is convenient if you have a long connection between flights. Especially for those arriving internationally, you may want to consider staying a night at the Delhi Airport hotel, and then catch your connection the following day. Be sure to book in the domestic wing (their international wing is solely for transfers between two international flights). The operations at Delhi Airport can move slowly, so be prepared with extra time for any connecting flights. Be aware, it is normal to have security outside Indian airport terminals, even when transferring from international to domestic wings in the Delhi Airport. You will likely have to go through an outside entrance and present your ticket (mobile or print) and passport. This prevents those that do not have a flight from entering. If you need a taxi, look for the prepaid taxi kiosks inside the terminal, just before the exit. It will look like a car rental kiosk, but these generally are for taxis. Uber is also available. Either option will be cheap (less than $10).

Flight

Domestic Flights

Any Indian domestic carrier that you find that works for your travel plans will be sufficient. For recommendations, we'd first suggest Vistara, and then IndiGo as a close second. Baggage - You need to be sure that your luggage weight is covered under your ticket. Indian carriers have luggage weight packages for purchase before the flight. This works a bit differently from the US, where you can book a checked bag up to a maximum weight. It is cheaper to prebook your luggage weight needs upfront. To note regarding connecting flights between Delhi Airport and Chandigarh: -Vistara is from Terminal 3, International Terminal. Our suggestion is when you are transferring from Chandigarh to Delhi, and then connecting to your international return, to book this airline for your return. This is because Vistara will already be in the international terminal at Delhi Airport. -If your international flight and travel plans are to arrive in Delhi Airport and head the same day to a connection to Chandigarh, to book Vistara for the domestic flight. This is for the same reason, you will already be in the International Terminal (T3), so it makes catching the domestic connection easier. If you are staying at the airport hotel, Vistara is also closer.
