Wedding venue
Our first stop after leaving the airport. Try the merengues!
Street parking is practically impossible. Find a parking garage. Don’t forget to try the Piraguas (Puerto Rican shaved ice dessert).
Great food if you are staying in or visiting Old San Juan.
Nightlife
Calle Loiza, also known as San Juan’s own hipster headquarters. The dining scene is currently booming. San Loiza Street is a bona fide art scene in the neighborhood of Santurce.
Book your tickets in advance. Cataño is about 25 mins to Old San Juan. Both can be done in one day.
Small restaurant. Close to the airport. One of the best mofongos hands down!
Chinese food. It’s a must try.
Make your reservations in advance. Also consider finding a local tour guide.
Near Luquillo beach. A strip of small kiosks/restaurants where you can buy frituras (fried treats such as pastelillos & alcapurrias) and other food. Check out the Mojito Lab, the Parcha mojito is a must try. Visit Boscas Del Mar restaurant for their frozen drinks.
This beach has a natural barrier reef which makes for a perfect place to sit in the water and soak in the rays. Visit the Kioskos on your way in/out of the beach.
Our favorite beach. Buy the sangria in the questionable water bottle and get fresh coconut water.
La Parguera is a bioluminescent bay found in the southern town of Lajas— a two-hour drive from San Juan. La Parguera doesn't have any beaches, but instead, it is surrounded by pristine cays. You can reach the cays by renting your very own small boat or arranging transportation with any of the local tour providers.
