Not at all. As you may have noticed, we're just having a big party. Nothing formal and nothing really "traditional". Think of this whole thing as a house party, but in a bigger house with kids around. That's how we're thinking about this whole thing too.
Black tie. Jeans & flip-flops. Nothing at all. (Well, maybe *something*.) Seriously, we don't care! Dress up or dress down - we just want to see you. (If it helps, Alex likely to be in jeans and hightops. Cort may be in a dress. But who knows. That might change!)
Please do RSVP - at least for the Saturday celebrations so we can make sure we have enough to feed and water (vodka) y'all. You may do so via the Greenvelope invite you will have received in your email. If you haven't received it or can't find it - just email cortneybusch@gmail.com and we'll get it right over to you.
You don't! We're just putting together some finger foods, snacks, and plates we love. (Don't worry! You'll get a full meal out of it.) We'll have some vegan and gluten-free options as well as a kosher dish. If you have any other specific dietary requests, you can note this when you RSVP on Greenvelope. If you want, you can also email cortneybusch@gmail.com and let us know. We want to make sure everyone can eat at the party!
Heck yea! We made sure to get a venue where under 21s were welcome. However, we won't have any childcare so please make sure you're capable of taking care of them. . .or pawn it off to someone more responsible. We are also planning on this getting sloppy with a lot of early 00s R&B songs that are uncensored. WARNING: if you don't like swear words, inappropriate dancing, or sloppy drunks around your kids, this may be one for them to sit out.
Perfect. The heat and humidity of summer should have just broken so warm and pleasant (and usually sunny!) during the day. Nights will be a bit cooler. Highs in the low 70s and lows in the low 50s (Fahrenheit, that is... low 20s/low teens Celsius).
There are 5-6 brick steps up to the porch of the house. There is a ramp to get inside too - just let us know and we'll make sure the bar is set up so everyone can enter. Once inside, we'll be all on one floor with plenty of space to move around. If you need assistance or an alternative entry, please let us know. There is a side door with access so just shout at us!
We got married July 8, 2022 (plans changed due COVID). It was a very small ceremony in Tuscany, Italy. And while we would have loved to have each and every one of you there, we also wanted something informal we could slot into a road trip. We weren't trying to coordinate people, places, and things other than ourselves. Plus, we really just wanted to have one big party with those we love instead of the whole "walking down the aisle" and "vow exchange" stuff.
Yes and no. Like any other city, we've had our issues and they've only been heightened following the pandemic. Remember New Orleans is a gig-based economy with a massive wealth gap; Covid did nothing to alleviate this and really only made it worse. Keep to lighted areas, avoid dark alleyways, keep your wits about you, taxi between places at night, etc. etc. and you should be fine. Oh, and please tip as generously as you can.
We are not #hashtag people. In a fit of pun-play one lazy Sunday afternoon, we eventually co-worked #WeinKnot because whenever one of us asks if we should do something, the response in our household is "Wine not?!" (thanks to a very lovely Hampton Inn worker somewhere in California). We also toyed with #WeinKnotTakeHimToCort. . . We do ask that you tag us in your photos on social media, though. Feel free to create your own hashtag, use the ones above, or go #hashtagless. Cort is also a fan of using #fyrefestival.
