Jeff and Alexa first met each other through 2.42 Church, a student organization at Texas State University where they were both pursuing their undergraduate degrees. They started to really connect with one another during a weekend leadership retreat in the summer of 2019. Both recall the same moment that they started to fall for one another- battling it out one-on-one playing MarioKart and SuperSmash Bros. About a month passes, Jeff still gathering the courage to ask Alexa on a first date. One day in September, in between classes, a chance encounter brings the two back together where they reconnect and exchange contacts. A week later, Jeff asked Alexa to have lunch with him… to which she asked for a raincheck. She had a huge midterm that day that she hadn’t studied for yet, oops. In the following weeks, they went on to have their first of many lunch dates. On October 11th, they had their first unofficial date at Italian Garden and watched the live-action Lion King movie at George’s in the LBJ Student Center. As Halloween got closer, they went on their first official date to a haunted house, something that would soon become an annual tradition. And on November 3rd, Jeff officially asked Alexa to be his girlfriend by requesting to change his status on Facebook to ‘in a relationship’. When the global pandemic hit, they became each other’s quarantine buddies, having all the time in the world to get to know one another more. They were like two peas in a pod. Before they knew it, almost two years had passed, and on October 16th, 2021, Jeff decided he was ready to change his Facebook status once again. He had coordinated with two of their close friends, Sarah Halpin and Nick Salitros, for the four of them to have brunch and go down to the river in Wimberley, TX, for ‘couples photos’. Finding the perfect spot, Jeff got down on one knee and proposed. With her heart racing and their friends giggling behind their cameras, she said yes.
