While at Boston College, Ethan and Alexa were both part of a volunteer organization called 4Boston. Ethan was part of a 4Boston group that volunteered at Franciscan Hospital for Children his Freshman and Sophomore years. Going into Junior year, Ethan was very busy with studies and interviewing for internships, and so he gave up his place in the group for someone that would have more time to invest. One Friday in October 2016, Ethan ran into a friend from his 4Boston group, Jordan, at the Plex (the old BC gym). Jordan let him know the group was planning to meet for a little party that night, and kindly invited him to join. Ethan was very excited to catch up with his old 4Boston friends, but little did he know that night he would meet the love of his life... When Ethan arrived at the party, held in the BC Mods, he was greeted by a number of old friends and felt right at home. He was also introduced to the new member of the group, Alexa. Ethan and Alexa hit it off that night, and Ethan got the courage to ask her out the following day. Their connection was immediate, and love quickly evolved from there.

Ethan knew he wanted to propose to Alexa at Boston College, the place where they met and fell in love. However, to get Alexa to campus without tipping her off that the proposal was about to happen would require a believable story... Ethan reached out to his dear friend (and Best Man!) JP to help come up with a credible story. JP and Ethan exchanged scripted texts about meeting up on campus for a nostalgic walk through their old home. They even made fake dinner plans for afterwards. Ethan got Alexa to campus without raising her suspicions. After a brief walk to get to the "meeting place" - at the beautiful junction of Stokes North and Stokes South - instead of seeing JP, Alexa saw Ethan drop to one knee.
