We met through a mutual friend during our sophomore year at CU Boulder. A few months later, Alec went to a philanthropy event at Kaylin's sorority. She saw him standing in the kitchen, thought he looked familiar but couldn't place him. She also thought he was super cute. When Alec approached Kaylin and asked if she would be interested in joining an innertube water polo team, she couldn't help but say yes. The day after the sorority event, Kaylin casually mentioned she had never gone to a volleyball game after Alec said he was going. He then invited her, put his arm around her at the game, treated her with respect, and won her over with his kindness and good character. The rest is history.

On a weekend trip to see friends in Chicago, Alec and Kaylin took an architecture tour on the Chicago River. After observing some of the most breathtaking sites of the city, Alec was preparing to take Kaylin's breath away. Once the tour ended, Kaylin noticed what looked like a paparazzi at the dock and wondered if there was anyone famous on board. This mysterious photographer was actually the man Alec hired to capture the upcoming moment. After exiting the dock and heading across the bridge over the river at Michigan Ave, Alec proclaimed how much he enjoyed traveling with Kaylin and how he wanted to travel with her for the rest of his life. Alec then got down on one knee and Kaylin stood in shock. Once the ring was revealed to her, Kaylin ripped the ring out of the box and placed it on her finger with a squeal of delight. She said yes!
