We're getting married!

We met in college at the University of Houston in 2006. Although we had overlapping friend groups and knew of each other, we never developed a friendship/relationship. Until.. I was back in Houston for the holidays after moving to NYC in 2009 and decided to hang out with my friends at The Flat. Alanna happened to be there that night too and spotted me from across the room. She walked over to me all googly-eyed and initiated a conversation which led us to exchanging numbers. We dated briefly after Alanna moved to NYC for law school in 2010, but remained platonic friends from 2011 up to 2018, when we finally decided to make it official. You know the rest...

Kofi and I planned a 9-day trip to Croatia to celebrate his 35th birthday on August 29, 2021. We flew into Dubrovnik and spent the day exploring the city. Kofi suggested that we visit a historic monastery, which was quiet, filled with flowers, and had a well in the courtyard. As we were taking photos, Kofi wanted one of me looking up at the sky, so I stood with my back to him and my eyes up. After a few moments he said "now turn around." When I turned to face him, he was down on one knee holding a beautiful rose quartz ring and popped the question! After the proposal, Kofi revealed that he'd coordinated everything with a Croatian photographer who had been taking photos of us at the monastery the entire time! Kofi introduced me to Nina the photographer who, for the next two hours, took us to various locations around the city for our engagement photo shoot. Well done, sir. I was in complete shock!
