Alan and Stephanie met on their very first day at UCLA at the Bruin Bash concert in 2010! Their friendship grew as study buddies in the dorms, late night dining hall trips, and explorations throughout LA. From best friends, they became an official couple on 02/10/2014. Despite being on opposite ends of California after graduating from UCLA, they embarked on adventures in Maui, Chicago, NYC, Tokyo, Hong Kong, Taiwan, Seoul, Singapore, Bali, Bangkok, and multiple National Parks. Medical school took them 1000 miles apart from each other with Stephanie in Los Angeles and Alan in Denver. This entailed lots of Facetiming when they were apart and lots of skiing, hiking, and eating out when they were together! On 5/24/2020, Alan had coordinated with Steph's parents to meet them in Denver. At sunrise, on a bridge overlooking a beautiful lake with the Denver skyline, Alan popped the question and completely surprised Stephanie! Alan will never forget how Steph's surprised response was "No way! No way!" until she comprehended what was going on and gave her true answer, "OK!" While Stephanie started her Internal Medicine Residency, Alan finished up medical school virtually and lived with Stephanie in Phoenix! She was fortunate to have him cook and prepare meals during her long hours as an intern physician. Alan jokes he was the best trophy husband during this time. They were both grateful to be able to enjoy their time cooking, eating, shopping, and simply being together on a daily basis. Alan then started his Urology Residency in Omaha where Stephanie will move to after completing her training. They will have spent 9 years long distance at this point! On their free time, they enjoy playing with their puppy, Nala, hiking, picnicking, car camping, skiing, cooking, eating, and spending time with their loved ones. Despite the odds of long distance and long career goals, they prevailed and their love grew.
Stephanie is a small town girl, who grew up in Grass Valley, CA. She went to UCLA for undergrad and stayed in Southern California for medical school. She is now a resident doctor in Phoenix, Arizona. No matter where she is, you can find her being a dork, goofing around, or satisfying her sweet tooth with her favorite matcha desserts, chocolate, and ice cream. However, things get serious at the foosball table when her competitiveness comes out (trash talk and all)! She has a keen eye for adventure and capturing amazing memories of us traveling, hiking, golfing, baking or simply hanging out with loved ones. We share the same thoughts, humor, and ambitions; she is truly my soulmate. Finally, I love that she lets me be little spoon when we sleep.
Alan is a city boy, born and raised in Long Beach, CA. He grew up surfing, playing badminton, biking around the city, and helping take care of his younger brother and sister. He went to UCLA for undergrad, Denver for medical school, and is now training to be a Urologist in Omaha. Alan’s lighthearted humor brightens any room and his gummy smile is contagious. He has such a huge heart and is one of the hardest workers I know. He enjoys cooking (especially for his fiancée), dad jokes, a slick deal, hiking, working out, cheering his LA Lakers, and all things spicy. He never fails to make me laugh on a daily basis and is the most caring fiancé EVER.
