Alana walked into an Anti-Defamation League board meeting and the rest was NOT history...yet. Marty says that night he met her he was enamored. They both took a strong liking to each other, but it took two years of friendship before the timing was right to leave the "friend zone." *The real truth here is that Alana had been shown a picture of Marty before moving back to Las Vegas by a yenta (yiddish term for a woman who gossips - we all know a few). She took a look at his smile and said, "I'm going to marry that guy!” We can’t always get what we want right away. In all the time that they were friends, they enjoyed drinks at Jewish Federation Young Leadership happy hours, hookah at Laila's, glow-in-the-dark kayaking at Lake Las Vegas, seeing Wedding Singer (the play) at Spring Mountain Ranch, birthday celebrations, ADL events...the list goes on! Most of the times Alana thought the invite was a date, it wasn't until she arrived to a group of friends she realized it wasn't like THAT. Before their first official date, they attended the very first Golden Knights game separately. Alana with Tay B and Marty with Hoffmann. They got pre-game drinks together and sat close by in the same section. It was a school night, so Marty was responsible and headed home after the game and Alana stayed out with Tay. When she got to her car, there was a little business card in the wind shield wiper. It was Marty's UBS card and on the back it said "Sweet Dreams Lovely. Have a great time tonight! -Marty" with a little curly-headed self-portrait he drew. And THEN the rest was history.... *Marty is skeptical of this portion of the story and you probably are too, but Alana knows her truth. Alana & Marty look so forward to taking their first step into life with you - the people they love the most!
