Going Green(e) 🌪️

Trey and Alaina met in The Wild West of the World Wide Web, but their stories have been intertwined for decades. Mutual friends, missed connections, family roots tied to the same states, and both were in FFA to name a few. They agree trying to find each other was the worst game of hide & seek they’ve ever played. What started as a series of text messages last March, quickly turned into a 6.5-hour phone call on a Sunday afternoon. Alaina was impressed that Trey could carry a conversation, but both were shocked that time slipped by so quickly. Over the next several weeks, the long phone calls became a staple as they learned more about one another and shared plenty of laughs, but on March 31st the most important phone call rang in. Just before 11pm, Trey called Alaina to warn her of an EF4 tornado headed toward her home. She promised him she was moving to an interior area and would do everything possible to stay safe, she remembers thinking about how much Trey had to have cared to be up watching the radar. Alaina and her dog Dozer rode it out in their guest bathtub, while the tornado destroyed an area just a half mile from the front door. The following morning during a call, Trey asked Alaina, “Since the tornado didn’t take you out, can I?” Alaina laughingly agreed. The term going green is often used when the sky takes on a green hue just prior to a tornado. Our wedding hashtag #goinggreene pay homage our last name and the night that almost took it all away, but brought us to this moment instead.
