How else could a midwestern man and a southern belle ever connect over their love of Seth McFarland cartoons and sweet potatoes, if not for the internet?! We have traced as far back as we could, and we still don’t know how we became friends on Facebook. This unsolved mystery has become our “once upon a time…” and we are deeply in love with the story we’ve created thus far!
Ok, so I’m a little extra when it comes to my girl…and I proposed twice. Both times were complete surprises to her and the most nervous I have ever been in my life! The first time, I planned with her mother and father-in-love to make it perfect. They flew here for her mothers birthday. After spending a few days with her parents, I spend the day secretly taking pictures and documenting the count down until I popped the question that evening! As we finished dinner and her family sat around the table and the went to the bathroom. While she was in there I frantically tried to find the perfect place to hide a camera to record her reaction. Once she came out she IMMEDIATELY noticed my camera and I was so ashamed I almost forgot what I was even doing. I dropped to one knee and completely forgot what I had rehearsed. I managed to get out something along the lines of how much I love her and if she would make me the happiest man in the world! She started crying and replied, “Don’t ask me to marry you as soon as I come from the bathroom!” Everybody just laughed as she said absolutely YES! She lost the ring. Second time was considerably more private. She surprised me with a birthday trip and I was already looking for the best time to do it more intimately and actually say what I wanted to say. So one night we are riding along the coastline…I pull over to a beach and and say let’s take a walk. She’s a sucker for the beach, so of course she was happy! Once we got to what she called the perfect spot, I dropped to one knee and grabbed her hand. She turned around and immediately started crying again…and here we are!
