Many wonder how Ajalin and Julius met.. Well get comfortable, this is the beginning of their story. During the dog days of Covid when life was all zoom meetings and virtual meetups, trying to go outside but still trying to be cautious, you remember those days, right? One sweltering Saturday in July, a group of their friends were on zoom doing what was normal: in the ministry writing letters, laughing, and having a good time. All of a sudden, it dawned on them that both Ahj and Julius had joined the Saturday meetups, but never at the same time. Their friends decided that must change. But it was no easy task! Julius was exhausted after a long day, was eating oxtails and refused to join the zoom group. Ahj came just to pop in and was ready to leave! But after much determination of two particular individuals (Indea & Lori) they finally were able to get them to meet. However, it was not love at first sight! The meet up was… How would one describe it? A HOT MESS. The friends who begged them to join weren’t even there. Essentially it was just three strangers with three big personalities in three different states on one zoom link. But despite the unavoidable awkwardness and random events from that day, a connection was definitely established between Ahj and Julius. That connection started to blossom over time. Over the next few weeks they saw each other on zoom. That led to a group text and more and more exposure to one another. Ajalin was curious but hesitant because Julius barely talked (which is crazy bc he actually talks a lot). Now fast forward it’s the month of October. They have a good feel for one another and a few direct texts have been sent; nothing major. But there was one burning question they both wanted to know about each other.. So Julius made arrangements to get that answer. He told her he was going to FaceTime her Sunday afternoon. She agreed. The figurative table was set: she could tell him and he could tell her, both getting the story they were so anxious to hear. How did it go? They planned to talk for about an hour and go about their business. However, they ended up on the phone for five and a half hours. FIVE. A conversation so captivating the world could’ve crumbled to ashes and they wouldn’t have even blinked an eye. Now they saw each other in a different light. Gone were the days of sporadic messages in a group chat; they began to talk everyday after that. But as things got going, Ajalin had an ultimatum for Julius. She had a week long school she was so excited for but the school required a lot of preparation and studying beforehand. She told him that if he wanted to pursue her, he had to wait a few weeks until the school was over. With a grin on his face and a soft chuckle, Julius happily acquiesced to her wishes. It has been nothing but history after that. It all started with a small connection on a computer screen some Saturday in July. That connection slowly grew into attraction, attraction into chemistry, chemistry into true love. Something beautiful. Against all logical probability, Ajalin and Julius met. Now they are together and joining as one flesh. We’re all excited to see the journey Jehovah takes them on.. And if you’re reading this, you are a part of their journey too.
