In Fall 2019, we were both enrolled in Marine Phycology. Through the duration of the semester, we only briefly chatted, usually discussing our latest quiz or exam. It wasn't until the last week of the semester Tay decided to move seats and sit directly across from Andrew. To strike up conversation, naturally, she asked, "Have you ever seen the back of a sea turtle throat?" Luckily for her, Andrew is a polite young man with manners. He answered that he had not, so she obliged him with a photo. Later that week we connected again at a department seminar where he asked for her digits. We finished the class and agreed to meet up next semester for our classes in common. Then the stay-at-home order happened and instead of hanging out at school, we were forced to make other plans (like date).
