It's a tale as old as Tinder, (so ten years), but this date was very different. It could have been five dates with how many places we went. On a beautiful day at the end of May, I was leaving work and my phone was buzzing as Austin offered options of golf, pool, or dancing for our first date. I think he was nervous...and so was I. We settled on LODO's for a drink and I arrived fashionably late and noisy as hell with PINK hair and purple lipstick. There Austin was in a bright blue UnderArmour with his skull earrings, blue eyes, and a shy smile. He was drinking a Bud Light on the patio. "You don't like craft beer?!"
Our conversation ran on as we discovered more interests we had in common, and those we didn't. His eyes were honest and his smile was trustworthy. Enjoying the long days of early summer, we sought the nostalgic ambiance of the Arvada Tavern. We enjoyed some calamari and our sweet cocktails at the bar, my cheeks were pink when he asked me to dance. The jazz music filled the dining room and the dim lights focused on us. He swung me around the host podium and we made enough space for our swing dance that felt like home.
After dancing around the restaurant and having a fantastic dinner we decided that we didn't want the night to end. So we strolled over to a little dive bar across the street from where we were eating to play some pool and have a few drinks. We were able to get a pool table and had a blast playing a few rounds until a couple of guys walked up to the pool table and asked if they could play us for the table. We figured that was fair and agreed. Within their first turn, they knocked all of their balls in except for one. I turned to Ariana and asked if I could get a kiss for good luck. After looking at me like I was silly, she happily said, "yes of course!" That first kiss was amazing! I felt like I was on top of the world. Immediately afterward, I sunk every ball on the pool table including the 8 ball. That was the first and only time in my life I have ever won a pool game in one turn and I credit it all to that first kiss. Ever since I figured it was fate's way of telling me I found the one person I was meant to be with.
