This day and age, online dating is the new norm. And that was exactly how it happened for us. We first “met” on Bumble where we matched and exchanged our first witty banter. After a few months of back and forth conversation and the occasional ghosting, we finally went out on our first date. I think we both then realized that it was well worth the wait. Daniel suggested go-cart racing for our first meeting and I already liked where this was going. Afterwards we shared wine and stories at Liberty State Park overlooking the skyline. Neither of us wanting the day to end, we continued our marathon date for some dinner and drinks. Trying to make our second date was a bit of a challenge. Our schedules were anything but in sync. Daniel did not let this hinder the progression of things. About a week after our first date, he told me he had something up his sleeve. After calling me to make sure I was home, he quickly left work to drop off some homemade empanadas and a bottle of Argentenian malbec. It was then I knew that we were going to last more then just a few dates. And sure enough, I was right.
You know it’s real if it’s on social media! On this date I took the step of showing our love on Instagram and Facebook. With well over a hundred likes and a dozen or so comments, everyone knew how serious I was about this man. I wanted to share what we have with everyone I knew. It was also around that time that I knew I was going to spend the rest of my life with him.
I am not an easy one to surprise, so Daniel certainly had his work cut out for him. The night it happened, he and I went for a night out with our friends. Daniel seemed his normal calm and collected self, so I was in no way suspecting anything out of the ordinary on this evening. After we got home, I was standing in our living room when he came over to me and starting telling me how much he loved me. I wish I could write down exactly what he had said, but I was so overwhelmed with joy, that I blacked out. All I recall is him getting down on one knee and pulling out the beautiful ring that he placed on my finger. I wasn't even sure if I had said yes as I had to ask him later on just to make sure. At least I remember how I felt, and that was an abundance of happiness and love towards this beautiful man.
