Maddie CCPRC or bust!! I met Addison during my 5th summer working with Adventure Camp (water khakis till I dIE!). We wound up being a few counselors shy that summer, so we went through a few more interviews in June. I didn't have any part in Addison's interview, so I had no concept of who he was prior to his first day. One of my coworkers met him first & mentioned that he was cuuuuute but gave ~interesting~ vibes during their first conversation. I filed away that information and went about my job. Addison worked for me that first summer, and nothing exciting came of it. Although he did call out sick more than once and he pulled the "I have a nail in my tire" excuse (still not sure if it was legit or not), so I wasn't sure how much I trusted his word. We wrapped up the summer and I remember him telling me that he wanted my job so he could drive around the company vehicles all day. I was just about to leave the park to start teaching. Addison did end up taking over my role with the park, and we didn't talk until the end of September after working a CCPRC challenge course day together. The next night, Addison added me as a friend on snapchat, and the rest is history!!! Except for the part where he asked me for my number when I had LITERALLY texted him about 3 weeks prior about Clif bars. Tough start. We played your typical iPhone battleship games, went back and forth about actually hanging out, and then finally watched Halloween together that October. Followed immediately by The Lego Movie because I was scared of scary movies !!! We started dating at the end of October, and have been battling about the value of potatoes and Sperrys and who knows more about outdoor recreation ever since. Addison I met Allie at CCPRC after the longest, hottest summer of the century! I truly enjoyed guiding campers through outdoor activities, but everyone occasionally gets a flat tire! Maddie taught me how to tie knots and how to look good in a pair of khakis. But sometimes the weather limited what outdoor activities you can do. The day Maddie stole my heart the weather had just turned sour for our group of campers.... a shinning golden 4runner swept me off my feet and saved me from walking through the pouring rain! I remember shivering in my crocs as this heavenly hero saved me! I eventually built up the courage to ask for her number and was absolutely shocked when she stayed up past her bedtime (7:30) to watch a movie with me. I knew she was the one when she made the best chocolate chip cookies and sang along with The Lego Movie.
Bride-To-Be POV I was pretty sure it was going to happen, but I didn't really know when or where. I was out on Shem Creek on a Saturday night and wearing a dress, though, so I knew something was up.. I actually cried unwell tears at dinner at Tavern & Table prior to maybe the biggest event of my life because we were sitting in the middle of the restaurant, and I felt like everybody was looking at me. Tough. But my knight in shining armor picked up our water glasses and we moved seats, just like that. And that is why I love ATB. We ate QUICK. Then we hustled over to the Mount Pleasant Fishing Pier (CCPRC's own), caught an awesome, cold sunset, & he asked me to marry him. And I was still nervous, so I said maybe but I did say yes a few minutes later!!! And that is all she wrote.
