From the start Nate and Abbie knew God had worked everything out in His timing. Abbie first heard about Nate 5 years before they met, through Michelle Cosby, one of Nate's aunts, who is a good friend of Abbie's. She had just ended a relationship and wasn't ready for a new one. So she said no. Nate then entered a relationship and Abbie figured that was God saying "No." Little did they know it was a "Not yet". Nate's relationship ended, he was told about Abbie, but it wasn't until one and a half years later they actually met. Beckisue Knight, another one of Nate's aunts, gave the final push to get them to meet each other. Their first meeting was at Luke Halsey's (Nate's Brother) basketball game in Fishers, IN. They shared a mutual interest in each other and it wasn't long before the first official date. On that first date they talked for 6 hours and still had much more to say. Every time they were in person they talked for 6+ hours about everything from family life to Theology to future dreams. Phone calls were just as long, they are thankful for modern technology. After many trips back and forth from Lapel, IN to Louisville, KY, Nate and Abbie got tired of the distance quickly. They prayed and knew God's hand was over the relationship, they decided not to drag their feet and dive head first into the future together.

You probably notice that there are 2 dates above this paragraph. Funny story, wedding planning started BEFORE the official engagement. Nate and Abbie met at a Texas Roadhouse on a weeknight down near Greenwood, IN. They were only talking about the pros and cons of Indiana vs Kentucky, trying to decide where they would settle when Nate's lease ended. During that conversation, the topic of "when" came up. Nate suggested early 2024, and after discussions with parents and grandparents, February 10 was chosen. And thus the wedding planning began. THE OFFICIAL PROPOSAL After getting Chris McClure's blessing, Nate wasted no time in getting the ring and planning the proposal. He talked with Abbie's mom and Hannah (The Maid of Honor) and picked out the ring. He planned a wonderful night starting with dinner at the Eagles Nest in Indy. Nate was originally going to propose there but decided last minute that it was too loud and public. Dinner wrapped up and Nate told Abbie they were going on a walk on the canal. While walking they stopped at a bench to rest, as they talked, Nate went to take a knee after quoting "Annie's Song" by John Denver. Abbie was shocked to see Nate kneeling in duck poop and exclaimed "Oh No! Don't do that!" Nate recovered from his shock and asked the long awaited question and Abbie answered emphatically "Absolutely!" The ring was a perfect fit and a perfect choice. Definitely a night to remember!
