Our story begins in January over a Facetime call between our friends, Ryan and Tiffany. (Ryan had met Tiffany, along with several of her friends, at a Passion Conference in Dallas a few days prior). Ryan encouraged Mason to join the Facetime group and a friendship quickly developed between Mason & Abby. Everyone joked at how similar their personalities were, and soon all were on board to encourage this relationship. A few weeks later, Mason began his final training for BNSF in Norman, Oklahoma, which was conveniently only a little over 6 hours from where Abby lived in Texas. Upon completing the training, Mason had a great idea to drive to Conroe and meet Abby in person. After getting his Dad's approval, Mason began the drive to Montgomery, Texas that day. Abby finished a 12-hour night shift at work, hurried home, and got ready to meet Mason for the first time. He remembers being so nervous about their first time meeting in-person, but it was an incredible evening. Abby was more than he could ever have hoped for. After a day of coffee, meeting her parents, dinner, a movie, and so much laughter, Mason asked Abby to be his girlfriend. After the 13-hour drive home, Mason told his parents every detail of his trip and when his Dad asked what he really thought, Mason said that he was going to marry Abby.

Mason was so ready to propose to Abby. Although they had been dating for a relatively short amount of time, he knew she was the ONE! Mason can be pretty spontaneous, and he had been holding on to the engagement ring for awhile, but he just couldn't wait any longer. So Mason called Abby's parents, and together they came up with a proposal plan. Unfortunately, Mason got so anxious that he miscalculated time and ended up missing his first flight. So much for the perfect plan! A day later, June 27th, Mason flew out to Texas to surprise Abby with an engagement ring. Abby had no idea that Mason was coming, much less to propose marriage! Mason continually teased Abby about "popping the question" in 2024, so she had low to no expectations when it came to a marriage proposal so soon. Abby's Dad picked Mason up according to the plan, but after that everything went downhill. The whole ordeal was chaotic, with Mason patiently waiting upstairs as he listened to Abby telling her parents about one of HIS stories! Abby's parents then insisted on a family meeting in the backyard. The plan was for Mason to Facetime Abby, she would obviously recognize that Mason was at her house, and she would be so surprised. But having Abby leave her phone in her room was not a part of the plan. This proposal plan was headed for failure, and so Mason chose to waste no more time. He surprised Abby by bursting in during the family meeting. Abby couldn't believe her eyes but was so excited to see Mason. Before he lost his nerve, Mason quickly got down on one knee and asked Abby to marry him. Without hesitation, she said Yes!
