Luke and Abigail met in September of 2021. Both worked at Southmont Baptist Church in the After School Care Program for K-5th graders. After working with each other for a little while, and being able to get to know each other, Luke tried to ask out Abigail on a date in December of 2021, but Abigail was in a Women's Discipleship Program at Denton Bible, which encouraged students to not pursue a relationship while in the program. Because of this, Abigail was not allowed to date until she graduated the program in May 2022. But, both communicated interest in dating each other, so they both focused on getting to know each other more while waiting until Abigail graduated in May 2022 to have their first date. Shortly after starting to date, Abigail and Luke broke up due to Abigail possibly moving to Missouri for college and doubts happening due to this. Fortunately, after having a long and difficult summer, and Abigail deciding not to move to Missouri for college, Abigail and Luke decided to give their relationship another try. They started dating again on September 17th, 2022 and Luke proposed on July 29th, 2023.

July 29th, 2023, was the date where Luke proposed to Abigail. For the proposal, Luke contacted a lot of important people in both Luke's and Abigail's lives to help. The proposal itself was a scavenger hunt that had Abigail solve riddles and clues that led her to locations in Denton that are important in their relationship, where she then met the important people mentioned earlier. When Abigail arrived at each location, the people involved used this time to talk to Abigail about how much they love Abigail, how much she means to them, and words of encouragement. At the end of their speech, the people involved gave Abigail a clue to lead her to the next location and person. The proposal plan started with Abigail and Abigail's sister at Rosa's Cafe for dinner, which led to multiple places, such as Denton Bible, Zera Coffee House, BJ's Restaurant, etc., which eventually led to Luke at Southmont Baptist Church (where they first met and the site of their first date) where he proposed.
