Two weeks into senior year, Eric transferred into my English class... I liked his "tbh" on Twitter and we went on our first date to In and Out soon after. We loved just being with each other and had so much fun together!
I flew into Tacoma, Washington for a casual weekend hangout with Eric and his family at their lake house on Anderson Island. When I landed, his mom, Lisa, called and told us the ferry had broken down and we wouldn't be able to get over to their house for a few hours. I thought nothing of it because this has happened before. We grabbed some breakfast to go eat by the water at Brown's Point Lighthouse. It was kind of a cold cloudy day but I was so excited to be in WA. We set up a picnic and as I start taking my first bite, Eric takes my hand and says hold on I have to do something first. THEN PROPOSES! I cried and he had secretly planned a night out to a very fancy dinner and hotel suite to celebrate. Oh, then we met someone's pet baby kangaroo, like the day couldn't get better! I got to meet his entire extended family for the first time during the weekend too, after 4 years together! The weekend was perfect and not what I was expecting. We were excited to fly back to Arizona and celebrate with all of our family and friends, who knew all along and couldn't wait. We were able to spend such good quality time with everyone before our big move to Dallas, TX!
As we were deciding on what day we wanted to get married, we came across April 30th...which may seem like just another day... when we told our parents, we found out that 67 years ago on April 30th, 1955, Eric's grandparents Rick and Lynne Healy got married. Then 39 years later on April 30, 1994, Marc and Lisa celebrated their marriage! When we saw this day was on a Sunday, we knew it was meant to be.
