Once upon a time I worked with a nurse named Jesse and I guess some conversations we had about guns, dogs, and whiskey made him think I'd be a good match for one of his best friends. One day he came up to me and told me about his friend named Brew. I remember him saying, "He's one of the good ones". He pulled up a picture of Brew on Facebook and I couldn't really tell what he looked like, but he did have a cute dog so that counts for something right? At the time, I wasn't interested in dating because I was working and in nursing school, but something in my gut said to just roll with it. So I told Jesse that Brew could friend me on Facebook, but I wasn't giving him my number. I honestly didn't think much would come of it. Brew messaged me the next day and we talked for about 2 weeks before going on our first date. We met up in the cute town of Hallowell for sushi and whiskey (two of our favorite things). When I first saw Brew, my immediate thought was "That's who I've been talking to!?" because I thought he was (and still is) the most handsome man I've ever seen. Our first date was 5 hours long. It's safe to say we enjoyed each others company. I could tell right away that Jesse was right, he was one of the good ones. At the end of our date, I got nervous and didn't know what to say or do so, in true Abby fashion, I say " It was nice getting to know you" which Brew took as "see ya never". Thankfully I was able to recover with a sweet text message about how much I enjoyed the date and hoped we could do it again.......Brew still holds it over my head to this day. After the third date I was calling my mom on the way home telling her that he was the one. Brew and I have been together for 3 years, all of which have been spent living 1 hour and 45 minutes apart. Although we've known we wanted to be married weeks into our relationship, Brew has been so patient with me as I finish nursing school and start my career. We are so excited to finally tie the knot in front of our loved ones.
