Back in 2020, Josh moved to his parents home in the Berkshires to hide out during Covid. Abby was living in DC at the time, and wanted to come up north to see her parents and escape the isolation of living in a studio. Turns out, the Shusters have a house in the town of Richmond, MA in the Berkshires- the same small town where Josh's parent's had a house. On one fateful evening when both families were in the Berkshires, Abby's mom reached out to Josh's mom having met one another 3 years prior through a mutual friend. Josh's mom invited them over that very evening for some wine and cheese. Josh received a text from his mom letting him know the Shusters would be over without noting that Abby was with them. Josh pulled in at the same time the Shusters did and saw Abby for the first time since high school. Excited to see a fellow millennial, Josh spent the evening chatting and getting to know Abby. Before leaving, Josh asked Abby if she wanted to kayak the next night, and so it began! Over the next few weeks, it became clear that they enjoyed being together, and over the next 3 years, they fell in love, traveled together and moved into Somerville where they live today. Josh wanted to propose at a spot meaningful to them as a couple, so on March 30, 2024, he brought Abby to Richmond Pond, and popped the question there where they had their first date kayaking. Abby joyfully said "of course!"
