In 2017, while Jason was completing his graduate studies at Baylor University, Abby was frequently visiting her longtime friend Jonna Hardy in Waco. What started as casual weekend hangouts turned into meeting Jason—and, well, the rest is history. They hit it off right away, but timing wasn’t exactly on their side—Jason was just months away from moving to New York City. Determined to not let the spark fizzle, he made sure to squeeze in their first official date in Austin in January 2018, just a few weeks before his big move. Distance didn’t stand a chance. When Abby surprisingly (or not-so-surprisingly) won an Instagram giveaway for a helicopter tour flying above New York, it seemed like something was conspiring to bring them together. She took it as the perfect excuse to visit Jason in the big city, and their adventure flying above the city was just the beginning of their journey together. As spring turned to summer, Abby and Jason found themselves seeing each other in Texas quite a few more times. With each visit, it became clearer that there was something special between them. By the end of that summer, Abby was craving an adventure and a change of scenery; so in September 2018, she made the bold decision to move to New York and join Jason in the big city. For the next year and a half, they soaked up everything New York had to offer. Exploring every corner of Manhattan together—tiny apartments, late-night walks, cozy dinners, and all the little moments that made the city feel like home. They fell in love in the city that never sleeps… until a global pandemic hit pause on everything in March 2020. The silver lining? Both their families lived in Texas, so moving back made sense—and offered a much bigger living room. After making it through the pandemic like everyone else, they finally settled together in Austin, where they've spent the last three years building their life together. In September 2023, Jason asked Abby to spend forever with him—choosing the dreamy cliffs of Capri, Italy, as the setting for a moment they’ll never forget. Now, they’re getting ready to say "I do"—grateful for that first Waco weekend, the leap to NYC, and all the wild, sweet, hilarious moments in between that brought them here.
