formal/semi-formal attire requested. - In respect for the sacred space of the Church, shoulders and knees should be covered and no cleavage should be shown. We recommend knee/midi/ankle length gowns and cocktail dresses for the ladies and coat and tie for the gentlemen. - While not required, it is also customary for ladies to cover their heads while in church with a hat or veil, as this has been the practice of the Church since apostolic times (see I Cor. 11:1-15).
Our nuptial service will be celebrated with a Traditional Latin Mass. • We invite ALL our family and friends to come to our nuptial Mass and witness us being wed! Please know that you do NOT have to be a Catholic or even a Christian to attend the Mass, but since this is so important to us, we hope that you will make every effort to attend it. We hope you will enjoy the experience of the Latin Mass if it is your first time, and we promise that you won't be disappointed with the beautiful organ music, Gregorian Chant, and harmonized hymns for your ears to enjoy! • This is a form of Christian worship that has been celebrated in the Roman Catholic Church for 1,500 years. The Latin Mass has been celebrated throughout the world up until 1969 when vernacular Masses were introduced and became more or less the norm. Latin is the official language of the Catholic Church, and this Mass offers a solemn setting conducive to prayer and worship. The sermon, of course, is always in English. Following the progression of the mass is quite simple if you have a missal program which we will provide that contains side-by-side Latin and English and explanations of what is happening. • The Traditional Latin Mass has sustained the Western Church for the last 1,500 years. It is this Mass which has inspired all the great saints and martyrs of the Church and nourished the faith of countless generations of the faithful. It is the Mass that was taken by missionaries all over the world in order to win souls for Christ. • In the traditional Latin Rite, Communion is received kneeling and on the tongue and is only permitted to be received by Catholics in the state of grace who have fasted for at least an hour.
