The date was October 1st, 2011 and we didn't know it yet but Rihanna had just released a theme song for our relationship. In the early part of September Rihanna released her hit track "We Found Love" the song talks about finding love in a hopeless place and that pretty much sums up the backdrop for Erin and Aaron's first encounter. Erin and Aaron both had the privilege to grow up in the beautiful state of New Mexico. When growing up in NM you are forced to make a few decisions at a young age like Red or green, ski or snowboard but most importantly Lobos or Aggies. Lucky for this love story Erin and Aaron both made the right decision in becoming Lobo fans. At this point, you might be asking yourself what brought these two together on that first day in October back in 2011. The answer to that question is Erin and Aaron met in a hopeless place. By chance, the two of us just happened to bump into each other at a tailgate party before the annual Lobo/Aggie football game. The Lobos lost that day but that's ancient history.
If you've ever lived in or visited New Mexico you know there is a big difference between "New Mexican" & "Mexican" food. Erin and Aaron Moved to Atlanta in 2013 and outside of family "New Mexican Food" is probably what they miss the most (or the sunsets and landscapes if you ask Erin). So back in 2014, Aaron began to feel homesick and one night opened his computer and started to Google things like New Mexican Food in Atlanta. As luck would have it that back in the early 2000s a chef from Santa Fe moved to Atlanta to open a restaurant. Aaron couldn't believe that a New Mexican style restaurant existed in Atlanta and the two of us wasted no time to visit Agave. From the second that Erin and Aaron walked in the door at Agave it instantly became their favorite restaurant in the Atlanta area. Agave quickly became our go-to for special occasions because the food is great and the atmosphere reminds us of home. When Aaron decided to propose it was a no brainer to pick Agave as the location. So after work one day he drove to agave to ask permission from the restaurant. He picked out the perfect table in a small loft area above the bar that was home to 2 or three small tables. When August 10th came around Aaron did his best to dress in a way that he was dressed up but not so much that Erin would ask why he dressed up for work. Erin met Aaron at his work for a social hour and the two of them left early for dinner and in-between dinner and desert Aaron mustered up the courage to ask Erin to marry him. Erin said "Are you serious??" and then said "YES!"
