The Minnie Ha Ha is sort of a legend if you grew up in this area and have ever been shuttled around by your parents trying to pack in activities for the day. Minnie Ha Ha means "Laughing Waters" and will take you for a one hour steamboat cruise around the lake. With drinks and snacks available on site, this is a great way to see the area's majesty and wonder.
For any history buffs, Fort William Henry was a British fort at the southern end of Lake George, in the province of New York. In 1757, the French general Louis-Joseph de Montcalm conducted a successful siege that forced the British to surrender. The fort's history is portrayed in James Fenimore Cooper's novel The Last of the Mohicans.
Lake George runs through the south-end of the Adirondack Mountains, home to some of the best hiking in New York State. There's something for every level of experience! There are plenty of easy-medium trails in and around Lake George Village, but if you're feeling adventurous you can shoot up north a bit and tackle one of the Adirondacks famous High Peaks. Some of our favorites are Pilot Knob, Prospect Mountain, and Cascade Mountain.
