How we met...

A classic Campus Cruiser love story

Sarah and Trevor met on Feb 11th, 2015 when Sarah applied to be a student driver for the campus safe ride program. Trevor was already working there as a trainer, and lucky for him, got his choice of who to train next. It was between a bombshell sophomore or a 35 year old PHD student named Clark, so naturally it was a tough call... but he went with his gut and selected Sarah. After a few training sessions, they knew they had a connection deeper than "Okay, turn left on the row, 3rd house on the right. You're going to see a drunk guy named Ted, that's our rider." Trevor mustered up the courage to do absolutely nothing and let Sarah ask him out for Valentine's day. 8 years later, we still hold on to this tradition dearly.

8 years strong

2015 - 2023

From the first date at Bluefish in Montrose to our anniversary celebrations at Uchiko in Austin, we've experienced a whole lot of life together and it's been such an adventure. After graduation, we stuck by each other through nearly three years of long distance between Sacramento and Los Angeles. The best parts of our months were those blissful weekends shared together, though few and far between. We knew that the back and forth was worth the challenge because we were determined to make this forever partnership work. Also we were racking up airline miles like crazy, so ya know, silver lining or something. We used those miles to tour cities across the US that we thought we'd like to move to, checking out New York, Portland, Denver and more... but when we hit Austin, we knew we found the winner. In December 2018, Trevor moved to Austin followed shortly thereafter by Sarah, and for the last 4 years, we've built an amazing life together. From exploring some of the best BBQ in the country and finding the most fun bars in Texas, to buying and DIY'ing multiple properties and starting a new journey into real estate, we've found so much happiness in each other, and more importantly, in Home Depot sales on paint sprayers and power tools.

The Proposal

01.19.22

Picture this: it's January 2020 and you've got a pretttttty good idea about this Sarah girl now and you think you're ready to lock her down for good. She's always talked about her dream to visit Austria, so how romantic would it be to surprise her there while on a May vacation?? Needless to say, the timing on that would prove less than ideal. No worries, we'll pivot and make an even MORE romantic event out of a once in a lifetime $200 round trip to Tokyo in February 2022! We always loved the idea of revisiting it together after visiting separately while in school. Oh what's that, still closed two years later? Ok, well...it's December 28th and you're just plain tired of waiting. It's now or never, but there's plenty of time to rework a proposal into something fun, right? How about cram-planning a foreign surprise engagement in 3 weeks and booking a spontaneous trip to Banff, Canada! On our second evening at Lake Louise after a long day of dog sledding and ice skating, wouldn't you know it, "the hotel" surprises us with a randomly selected photoshoot for valued guests. 'It would be such a shame to pass this up, right Sarah? Come on, dress warm and let's go give it a shot, it'll be fun!' Cut to sunset with Trevor's frozen fingers numbly holding a ring box upside down, on one knee in the middle of a icy lake, anxiously checking with the photographer to make sure it's the right time to tell her to turn around. I blacked out from nerves but the photo evidence suggests she said yes, so we'll chalk that up as a success.
