The Wedding Website of Brianna Valenti and Andrew Leyba
~Catholic Ceremony Info~ “A man shall leave his father and mother and be joined to his wife, and the two shall become one flesh. So they are no longer two but one flesh.” – Mark 10:7-8 Sacred Scripture begins with the creation of man and woman in the image and likeness of God and concludes with a vision of "the wedding-feast of the Lamb." Scripture speaks throughout of marriage and its "mystery," its institution and the meaning God has given it, its origin and its end, its various realizations throughout the history of salvation, the difficulties arising from sin and its renewal "in the Lord" in the New Covenant of Christ and the Church. - The Catechism of the Catholic Church
Question

Our Wedding

Answer

Our wedding ceremony will be celebrated within the context of the Holy Mass and the Eucharistic Liturgy. For that reason, we find it necessary to express and reiterate the truths of the faith. The Holy Catholic Church professes the true presence of Jesus Christ in the Eucharistic Sacrifice. That is, when the priest holds up the bread and wine and proclaims the words of our Lord, the bread and wine physically and literally become the flesh and blood of our Lord Jesus Christ. In light of this teaching, we ask that only those who both profess the Catholic faith and are in a state of grace (meaning you have not committed a mortal sin since your last sacramental confession) come up to receive the Eucharist in Communion. If you are a believing Catholic and have fallen away from the church or have not been to confession in a while, we would like to offer to you time for the sacrament of confession before the ceremony. Additionally, out of respect for God and his Church we request this be an unplugged ceremony. Please see the following links for general information about the Catholic Church and its teachings. Additionally, if you have any questions about the Church or our beliefs please feel free to reach out!
