Unknowingly, we lived just a mile apart for over two years but clearly needed a bit of help finding each other. Thanks to a few mutual swipes to the right, we ended up on our first date at one of the only restaurants in the neighborhood crazy enough to be open in the beginning of the pandemic. After that night, we became inseparable. We quickly learned we both loved the same things and spent the next year fishing, hiking, and traveling almost every weekend. The craziness that was the year 2020 really gave us the opportunity for lots of quality time - and we think we made the most of it. I was ready to propose and planning was going well… until I accidentally spoiled part of the surprise. The following weekend was 4th of July and we had a big weekend planned with friends in Blue Ridge, GA. We were scheduled to go on a wine tour and thanks to Amy, I was convinced this would be the perfect place. I woke up that morning and put in extra effort getting ready. Shelby was not suspicious at all. We finally made it to the first winery, Engelheim Vineyards. The rest of the group convinced her that we should finish our tastings before heading outside to take pictures. Thanks to a little push from friends, we got Shelby to walk through the vineyard to this spot overlooking the Blue Ridge mountains. As we were walking, we both started to feel our friends come to a stop. I knew it was time as Shelby turned around to see everyone had pulled out their phones, photo ready. Finally, I got down on one knee. I really don’t remember much, other than Shelby being completely speechless and just asking Are you really doing this? Right now?? Like this is for real?? It turned out to be the best surprise I could have ever pulled off. We are so grateful to have such incredible friends and family that have made the season of engagement so special. We look forward to celebrating with you all on November 19th, 2022!
