Best Man
Bill and the groom met during the summer of 2000 when they started their careers at Accenture together. Despite Bill being an avid University of Kansas fan, the two became friends, eventual roommates, and international traveling companions. Although Bill has moved from Kansas City to Chicago, and then again to Denver, Bill and Nathan remain close friends making frequent trips back and forth (as well as other cities) following the Chiefs and Royals, chasing errant golf balls, and dreaming up ways to incorporate bacon into feature dishes for Porkapalooza.
Matron of Honor
Julie and the bride met their sophomore year in college. They lived down the hall from each other, took graphic design classes together and spent countless Saturday mornings at a favorite local deli. Their deli trips have turned into sushi dates, but the friendship hasn't changed. Julie grew up in the city, while Marissa grew up in the country. Since college, Marissa has fallen in love with the city while Julie fell in love with and moved to the country. Meanwhile, they BOTH fell in love with Smiths. I guess the odds were in their favor. Nonetheless, they find it funny they'll soon have the same last name.
Ring Bearer
Brendan is the bride's nephew, by her older sister Jill and brother-in-law Barend. Brendan is 10 years old and loves drawing, playing video games with his friends, riding bikes, swimming, kayaking, camping, boating, spending time with Daisy (their dog), and taking care of their chickens. Brendan would also be happy if he could skip school every day.
Ring Bearer
Rylan is the bride's nephew, by her older sister Jill and brother-in-law Barend. Rylan is 8 years old and loves John Deere, riding bikes, swimming, spending time with Daisy (their dog), taking care of their chickens, playing basketball, fishing, kayaking, camping, boating, shooting guns, and eating cheeseburgers and fries. (His exact words.)
Flower Girl
Pressly is the bride's niece, by her older sister Jill and brother-in-law Barend. Pressly is 5 years old and loves playing with Barbies and dolls, feeding cows with her daddy, wearing pink, swimming, playing with Daisy (their dog), and beating up her brothers. Fine print: Jill is only 20 months older. My nephews and niece think I'm older. She made me type this.
