About this venue

At the Barn at Brophy Creek, we are a family run business on a fourth generation farm. Running along the edge of Brophy Creek, the farm was purchased in the 1950's by my grandfather who immigrated from Germany and worked the farm as a hired man when he was 18 years old. The next generation took over and my dad began farming the land. My husband and I moved into the farmhouse where we raised our 4 beautiful children. I’ve stayed on this acreage my entire life. It is my history. Eventually, my dad retired and the buildings began to deteriorate. I knew we had to save these historic buildings and share them with the community, so we got creative and dreamed up the wedding and event venue that Brophy Creek is today. Luckily, my husband is able to take the dreams and visions I have in my head and make them reality. In 2015 we began dreaming it up, tearing it apart, and rebuilding - we've put our lives into this space.

The Barn

Barn venue with wraparound stone patio overlooking the pond and waterfall

This uniquely reimagined 5000 sq ft cattle barn is wrapped in wood with an old oak floor to match. A brick patio runs along the south and west side of the barn so that you may sit outside and listen to the waterfall or watch the amazing Iowa sunsets. The Barn sits among an open pasture and beautiful perennial gardens with views of wide open fields, the windmill and pond. This setting will assure a memorable and beautiful day.

    This venue was PERFECTION! It really captured the rustic vibes we were going for and because the space is so beautiful we really didn’t need to do much decorating which saved us a lot of money. There are plenty of backup locations as well if you needed it for the weather, but if you can get married at the outside location-do it! It was stunning to get married out by the pond at sunset in the fall. We got so many compliments on how stunning the place was and I really can’t talk enough about how incredible Kari is to work with. She’s a great communicator, helps work out any problems, and overall is so incredible to work with. We loved having the weekend package so we could have the Friday to set up, only worry about getting married on Saturday, and tear down on Sunday. I also think this package was affordable for how much time you got at the venue too. We got so many compliments on the wine slushies as well. You won’t regret having your wedding here!
