About this venue

Powel Crosley built the Florida winter home for his wife, Gwendolyn, in 1929. The two-and-a-half-story Mediterranean mansion was built in the southwest corner of Bradenton on a 60-acre parcel of land on Sarasota Bay adjacent to the John Ringling Estate. The 11,000-square-foot home has 21 rooms and 10 baths, and an adjacent carriage house has room for three cars and servants' quarters on the second floor. Originally the mansion had a swimming pool, a seaplane dock and yacht basin. The home featured many innovations for its time, including a steel frame encased in cast stone, embedded pipes and wiring, and a 135-day construction schedule. Placed on the National Register of Historic Places in 1982, Seagate was saved from commercial development and purchased for renovation by Manatee County, which operates it as a meeting, conference and event venue.

    We held our wedding at the Powel Crosley Estate and were very happy with our choice. The estate features beautiful, expansive grounds that provided a scenic backdrop for our outdoor ceremony and plenty of room for guests to mingle. The onsite coordinator communicated with us primarily via email leading up to the event, which worked well for us. She was responsive to our questions and provided the necessary details to prepare for our big day. The indoor reception space accommodated our large guest list comfortably. Overall, we felt the estate was an excellent value given the beautiful setting and ample room to host our wedding festivities. We highly recommend the Powel Crosley Estate as a wedding venue.

    I really am speechless when it comes to the Powel Crosley. I am so incredibly thankful we hosted our destination wedding here with them. I wish I wouldve taken more time on my special day to really marvel at all of the estate. There is so much beauty every which way you turn! The staff was so helpful from the moment we booked with them and on the wedding day. Looking back at our photos, I know this was worth every single penny. Book the lawn, your pictures will be outstanding.
