About Philip

A Brit from just south of London in England, I have lived in Texas since 2006, when I moved to marry my best friend. Before moving to America, I was a newspaper photographer covering local stories and sports, managed a portrait studio, and traveled the world. A lifelong photographer, I've spent an unhealthy amount of time in darkrooms developing rolls of film and learning from amazing mentors.

I love the craft of photography. I’m a former news photographer and a San Antonio-based wedding photographer capturing weddings from a fly-on-the-wall perspective. You’ll not notice me. My photos are candid and artistic with a splash of color and monochrome.

    I can barely put into words how much I recommend Philip Thomas Photography. I first gravitated toward him because of his authentic, documentary style photography but ultimately booked him because of his positive and humorous energy. On the wedding day, Philip really went above and beyond to get the shot. From racing up and down flights of stairs and literally climbing over and behind rocks to kindly and efficiently directing countless family members. My husband and I felt completely comfortable and at ease around him despite having only met (in person) for the first time that day. His dedication really translates into the photos we received a few weeks after the wedding. I cannot wait to print and display our photos because they are truly works of art.

    We worked with Philip for bridal portraits, rehearsal dinner and our wedding day and couldn’t have made a better decision. His background in photojournalism is evident in his ability to capture the heart of the moment and the resulting photos are breathtaking. On top of that, he is a great communicator, fun to be around and just a wonderful person overall. We couldn’t be happier with how everything turned out and plan to use Philip for all of our photography needs in the future. He truly is the best - thank you so much!

    Omg cannot recommend enough! My now husband and I had an elope-y wedding so we had to find a really good photographer really quickly-I stumbled across Philip's page and was immediately drawn to the style and skill of his work. Unfortunately I read on his page that he was full booked for the season. I decided to take my chances and reach out anyways juuust in case he would be available on our wedding day (3 weeks away at that point). I was elated to hear back quickly that he happened to available that day!! We had an introductory zoom call a few days later and had the contract signed by the end of that week. Philip was such a pleasure to work with! We got our final photos sent to us a couple days ago and they blew us away-the lighting, his expertise, and his creative touch made for such awesome and unexpected shots. 10/10. Thank you Philip!!
