Hi! I'm John, a wedding photographer based in Chicago, IL. I believe deeply that great wedding photography is about creating imagery that is as visually compelling, as it is emotionally significant. Weaving the images together to tell unforgettable stories. My distinct 'documentary meets fine-art' style is a product of my unrelenting commitment to my craft and the complete trust that my couples place in me. I primarily cover weddings in the Chicagoland area, but I will travel to any destination worldwide for those seeking an adventure.

I've been told that I am the calm amidst the chaos. It's not uncommon for my couples to not only boast about their wedding images, but about how I calmed their nerves when things got tough. I'm fascinated with the magic of photography and love creating images that make you think and wonder... My approach isn’t for everybody, but for those that feel it is, I hope to talk to you soon.

    We chose John as our wedding photographer and the package we chose also included an engagement session and we added on videography for a highlights video. John is amazing!!!! He was recommended to us by our wedding planner and we were not disappointed. His photos are amazing and gorgeous! There's something very special, alluring, mysterious and intriguing about his photography which is the style I definitely wanted for our wedding. John's presence is also very calming; if you're a bride with anxiety and nerves and are kind of awkward especially about photo taking like I am, he will calmly but firmly direct you, help you focus and make you look so beautiful. He kept in touch with us via email and we felt like we could come to him with any concerns about the wedding look and photography. We cannot wait to see the wedding gallery!!

    John was AMAZING from the beginning to the very end! We were married in August of 2024 the Friday before Labor Day weekend. John made sure every single detail was discussed & planned prior to our BIG day. He made sure the shots I wanted downtown happened even though the wait at City Hall took longer than expected. I cannot express my complete gratitude for all the beautiful memories John caught of me, my family, my husband, and my fur babies! 10 out of 10 I HIGHLY recommend!

    John is AMAZING!!! I am so so happy that we decided to invest in our wedding photos and book with John, because each photo is a work of art. John captured our story beautifully--from the sweet behind-the-scenes moments with friends and family, to the dramatic showstopper bridal portraits, we are so grateful to be able to remember our wedding through his lens! Looking through our gallery, we had photos that took our breath away, made us cry, and literally made us burst out laughing. And the cherry on top is that John is also fantastic to work with--a much-needed calm, focused, yet flexible presence on a chaotic day!! Highly highly recommend!

    John Foley is THE photographer you need for your wedding! From the moment my mom, now husband, and I met him & after seeing his work, and the awards his work has received - we knew we wanted him to document our special day. John was kind, professional, and very organized. He worked so well in the space given to him (it was not big while getting ready) & still the pictures came out beautiful. He knew how to direct people and quickly take portraits. But also was very sneaky and I didnt notice him unless he was directly asking to take a picture. Most importantly - he goes out of his way to make the picture happen. I lost my father 4 months before my wedding & forgot to take a picture I had in mind between the hustle & bustle - he was able to photoshop/create an image that truly looks like he took it. John is your man - TRUST ME
