Free Radicals is the Houston Press' 13 time winner of the Best Jazz Award, and the Houston Chronicle's choice for the Best Local Album of 2020. We play horn-heavy funk, jazz, ska, reggae, cumbia, salsa, afrobeat, tango, klezmer and so much more.
We can perform as a jazz combo, a dance band with a horn section, a marching band with tuba, or even switch from one to another. We're available with up to 12 musicians depending on your budget, but we are quoting for seven here. We play original instrumental material, and you can customize the band to your needs.

Our three dress codes are: - colorful festive (recommended) - all black - black pants, white button down shirts
We play original material and can add in any standard for free (such as "All of Me" or "Love is Here to Stay"). We have a surcharge to learn pop tunes.
We play everything from weddings to funerals to street protests to break dance competitions. We are known for quickly changing from a marching band to a cocktail band to a party band.

We can do a full baraat brass band with dhol. We can play somewhat Christian songs like "When the Saints Go Marching In" and "Down By the Riverside."

We have a travel fee that comes out to $1 per musician per mile outside of Houston.
We do small jazz trios for background ambience, our standard stage band and marching band with seven musicians, and full brass bands with 12 - 15 musicians, and everything in between
Ceremony / Wedding March: A small ensemble can play during your ceremony. Marching Brass Band procession: The brass band with tuba will march from one building to another, around the block, wherever you want us to lead! Cocktail Band: A group of 3 to 7 musicians can play background music. Party Band: We take to the stage with the electric band and bring people to the dance floor.
