Stone Park Cafe, which opened in September 2004, was the longtime dream of owners Josh Foster and Josh Grinker, childhood friends who grew up in Park Slope. In 2011, the pizzeria located right next door to Stone Park Cafe’s kitchen on the 3rd Street side of the restaurant became available, and Josh Foster jumped at the chance to develop a private party venue to operate alongside the restaurant. Within its first two years, WhiteBox was nominated for “Best Group Show” by the International Art Critics Association for Plural Speech and for a survey of Viennese Actionists, Günter Brus and Hermann Nitsch.
