When I started caking a year and a half ago, I couldn't in my wildest dreams imagine it would take off the way it did. Every cake has a story, and every cake no matter how simple or elaborate teaches me a lesson for the next order. I am self-taught, and although that means my resources were (mostly) women who have mastered this craft and were generous enough to share their talent on the internet, the rest of the work - the trial and error - falls on me. I attended Columbia College in Chicago and have a BA in Photography. After graduation, I was asked by a friend if I would photograph her wedding and from that day forward I was hooked on the magic of wedding photography. Initially built in the 1900s as a double storefront, it transformed throughout the century into a department store, political office, coffee shop, and now an event space. 223 Main is owned and operated by a local Lemont couple, Hector and Lauren Tamayo. Hector grew up in Lemont and always loved the downtown area. At the beginning of 2020, the coffee shop leasing the space decided to close down. While brainstorming what the building could be next, the Covid-19 Pandemic hit. Lauren and Hector decided to cancel their destination wedding and remodel 223 Main.
