His desire to compose and improvise led him to study with a childhood hero, Sergio Assad, at the San Francisco Conservatory of Music. While at the Conservatory, Benjamin was a recipient of Honors in Music Theory, the Dean’s List and in 2013 was selected to provide program notes for the Conservatory’s orchestra and chamber concert series.
