Since 1930, our family has been baking quality products for dessert lovers like you. Our story begins with my father-in-law, John Slove, being hired to work as an apprentice in a Chicago bakery. While there he learned everything there is to know about baking. Then, in 1946, he and my mother-in-law, Grace, opened their own bakery on Diversey Avenue in Chicago – Slove Bakery. Their goal was to produce great quality desserts and provide excellent customer service: he did the baking; she the handshaking. Through hard work and determination, they grew the business and the bakery’s reputation as one of the finest in the Chicagoland area.

While attending The Wilton School of Cake Decorating, Susie refined her talent with the teaching and guidance of world-renowned sugarcraft artist, Nicholas Lodge, advanced fondant artist Laurie Bradoch and teacher extraordinaire, Sandy Folsom.
