Hi, I am MirShanda the owner and chef of Kismet's Cakes located in Decatur, Ga. Growing up with a love of all things sweet and beautiful I found myself seeking a way to express myself both in the kitchen and artistically. Eventually, I found a way to combine my love of pastry and art. I decided to enroll at the Art Institute of Atlanta where I earned my degree in Culinary Arts with a concentration in baking and pastry. After graduating I worked for a short time in a bakery located in the Buckhead area and then chose to go into my business for myself.

After pursuing a degree in fine art with a concentration in graphic design and working in the industry I took an opportunity to open a restaurant and market with my mom. As fate would have it, that business lead me to grow my baking skills and I later combined that with my desire to create fine art and started Gingerspice Bakery. Laura Curtis, a Culinary Institute of America grad, was working as a R&D chef when she made her first batch of bright pink, tart & fruity Raspberry Hibiscus marshmallows. Her husband suggested she name the new amply fluffy creations Malvi, short for malvavisco, the Spanish word for marshmallow. She created Malvi Mallows using European-Style butter and Fair-Trade chocolate to make Malvi cookies extra rich, and dried hibiscus flowers, locally roasted espresso, whole vanilla bean, and organic Georgia peanuts to maximize marshmallow flavors, then built a business so that everyone can party s'more.
