Rich Gunderlock’s dad took him to the U2 Achtung Baby tour at the Philadelphia Spectrum back in 1992, and it lit a fire for music that continues to burn in his life today. Drawing inspiration from a wide variety of popular music — everything from Motown to Nirvana — Rich grew up sharpening considerable talents on saxophone, guitar, and piano; earning 3 degrees in music, playing in multiple bands and publishing countless songs.

“Alegria” means happiness and joy, and it’s clear from the first note that these musicians are having as much fun as their listeners. Led by versatile guitarist Peter Richardson, Alegria delivers concert-quality instrumental music with a relaxed party vibe. Alegria is a shape-shifting, genre-hopping Jazz combo whose music leaps the continents with flair. Monica Hargrave holds a Bachelor of Music degree in harp performance from the Indiana University School of Music and a Master of Arts degree in music from the Interdenominational Theological Center in Atlanta, Georgia. She has made radio appearances on Talk Back Atlanta, and television appearances for Good Day Atlanta. Monica has three CD recordings, Divine Time, Divine Season, and Harp to Heart.

Some of Tony Tatum’s earliest memories are of his mother singing in front of a mirror, holding a brush and belting out tunes by Tina Marie, The Whispers and Donnie Hathaway. “Every morning before school I would see her and hear her singing,” Tatum said. “I would think about it all morning long at school.” The music became part of him and he would find himself imitating his mom, pretending his comb was a microphone and singing along to the music.
